Programmes of work...

Please get in touch for an informal discussion (or indeed a formal one). I deliver work in a tailored way, developing a suitable new programme for each situation. I can usually help you work out what you want or need (it's not necessary to have a clear idea before contacting me).

Available are:

  • Programmes of training.
  • Workshops.
  • Presentations.
  • Consultancy support situations.
  • Evaluations.
  • Facilitation scenarios.

I'm reluctant to provide a list of courses and interventions because this sometimes limits the thinking of people contacting me - but many also find it helpful. The following are simply a few different possibilities...

  • An evaluation which investigates not only client satisfaction, or adherence to agreements, constitutions or standards, or whether office systems are healthy, but also much more important questions like whether work genuinely improves lives.
  • Support for front line social care staff to consider difficult questions about their approach and attitude to those they support.
  • Training for personnel across an organisation directed at keeping them on their toes in regard to overall organisational objectives on themes of inclusion and equality.
  • Consultancy work with senior staff in regard to organisational change.
  • Work to encourage good practice around Independent Advocacy, person-centred planning and support, inclusion and equality.
  • A masterclass around person-centred planning and related techniques (NB: I have reservations about the title 'masterclass' but no clear alternative word to use).

The following documents provide information about some specific work themes:

Options for programmes of training and development (pdf file) - This document outlines some programmes directed at care and support services (and related organisations). It concentrates on work around person-centred planning and approaches, but also discusses alternative options.

Making Change Happen (pdf file) This short document is designed to help organisations think about 'making change happen' so that their services become more person centred. It is intended for those seeking to make the most of the opportunity for change that training has provided, and those looking for a way to encourage person centred practice without buying in training for each and every staff member.

The document discusses:

  • the adaptive challenge of changing an organisation's practices to make them more person centred,
  • some ideas for encouraging the change,
  • the role of training
  • possible programmes including training, organisational planning, large group person centred planning, change groups, change through evaluation, training trainers, and consultation.

Monitoring and Evaluation: difficulties and possibilities (pdf file) - This document discusses ideas about good evaluation and monitoring strategies.
